COMMON WAYS TO RUIN YOUR WOODEN FLOORING

Wood is a timeless choice for flooring - it's classic and it fails to improve a space. This sort of flooring can also be eco friendly since it's constructed from pure substances and it lasts for decades when preserved the ideal way. However, what keeps hardwood flooring in great form and what can ruin them?

Know how to Look after your flooring

There are lots of ways that you might be destroying your flooring before being aware of it. Simple things that you do that you may have thought were benign could be injurious to the attractiveness and endurance of your hardwood flooring.

1. Have some protection...
Not having a doormat, lets small bits of debris located under your shoes to rub the timber as you wander around indoors.

2....but use it properly
However, carpets or rugs, like door mats, can also be something that can harm your floor if not laid properly. Some homeowners opt for tacks, which clearly damages flooring, while some use non-metallic tape, which might pull away the top protective coating of the ground.

3. Using too difficult a brush...
Ironic as it seems, some cleanup methods are also the reason wooden floors are ruined. With a broom with stiff bristles, as an example, may be causing tiny scratches every single time you sweep. The damage won't be noticeable at first, until it builds up.

4...or too much water...
A mop is an excellent way to wash wooden floors but not if it is soaking wet since water could seep
in, trigger molds, and cause premature rotting.

5...or the wrong cleaning products
Another way you could be damaging your hardwood flooring is through the cleaning products you use, especially those that are wax-based. It could develop on the ground and weaken it as time goes by.

While everything above could ruin hardwood flooring, it does not mean you have to skip all of them. They may nevertheless be used or done but with additional caution and strict conditions. Firstly, you need to have a doormat at each door leading outside if possible. When it comes to carpets, select a soft material that's heavy enough to stay in place without tacks or tape. Buy a broom with gentle bristles and be certain that the cleaning products you buy are appropriate and suitable for the type of floor you have. Last but not the least, clean using a moist, not soaking wet, floor mop and make certain to wash your floor whenever possible.

Wooden floors may seem to require high maintenance but they are in fact simple to manage. It is, however, important to learn your flooring well to protect against doing anything that could lead to harm to it. If you find minor scratches or dirt, deal with it immediately before it gets worse. Not only will you be saving yourself from the strain due to more complicated fixes, you also save yourself some extra cash and valuable moment.
